Individual Conclusions
Overall Conclusions
As a group we have come to the conclusion that although bilingual education and french-immersion programming are necessary components of education in Ontario, there is room for overall improvement. Though these programs do not necessarily produce fluent 'native' french speakers, we are in agreement that they should continue to be offered in Ontario classrooms. We feel that the arguments for bilingual education far outweigh the arguments against and its benefits cannot be ignored. There are many proven benefits to learning another language such as improved cognitive development (brain growth and better focus), economic (employability and income), and social (world citizens). We also think it is important to implement bilingual education with native languages in order to preserve the languages and culture.
Bilingualism is a lifelong asset and with French and English services being implemented across Canada, the job opportunities for bilingual speakers are numerous. Bilingualism provides lifelong benefits to students not only in the workforce but in travel and even health.
